PEOPLES BANK
Community Storytelling Series
Documentary-style films highlighting the people, history, and heart of a growing community bank.
OVERVIEW
Peoples Bank partnered with me to help introduce their brand to a new community in Chariton, Iowa. Rather than a traditional marketing push, we took a storytelling approach — focusing on people, legacy, and the fabric of the town itself.
This became a multi-project collaboration blending community documentary, character profiles, and leadership narratives.
The anchor of this work was “BOBBY,” a short documentary created to build awareness and excitement for the bank’s new Chariton branch.

THE APPROACH
Our goal was to introduce Peoples Bank as a community-first institution through real human stories — not marketing messages. We built the narrative in three parts:
Bobby — The Mini-Documentary
A story about legacy, mentorship, and the lasting impact of one individual. This film honored coach Bob Cain, a beloved figure in Chariton, and positioned Peoples Bank as a supporter of the community’s culture and history.
PEOPLE OF PEOPLES BANK
A series of three short films profiling the individuals who would lead the new Chariton branch — Wes, Jodi, and Karen. Each video highlighted trust, local connection, and the heart of community banking.
PEOPLE BEHIND THE GOOD
A leadership-focused film showcasing the President/CEO of Peoples Bank, his vision, and the culture that guides the organization. This was the first film under the “People Behind the Good” direction.

THE OUTCOME
Through one documentary and four human-centered mini-stories, Peoples Bank built credibility and emotional connection with the Chariton community before its branch even opened.
The result was stronger engagement, widespread sharing, and a deeper sense of recognition and trust.
Peoples Bank didn’t promote banking — they promoted people.
And that made all the difference.
